Day 0 Arrive at Nevermind HQ early afternoon.

We’ll meet at the Nevermind HQ, Barwon Heads for a short briefing and familiarisation ride before heading to the Spirit of Tasmania for the overnight sailing.

Sailing across the Bass Strait on the Spirit of Tasmania is not just a way to travel; it’s an adventure in its own right. The journey provides stunning vistas of the rugged coastline, crystal-clear waters, and a preview of your upcoming journey. While on board, you can enjoy wine tastings, dine, and settle in for a cosy night’s sleep in the ship’s cabins.

Day 1 Wednesday: Devenport to Launceston (100kms)

Upon waking up to the sunrise and catching a glimpse of Tasmania in the distance, we will enjoy breakfast on board the ship before disembarking in Devenport. We’ll jump on the bike and take the main road, then exploring some of the back country roads north into the historic River port of Launceston.

Starting from Devonport, our journey will begin along the coastline, offering views of sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, and the vast ocean. Approaching Launceston, we will be greeted by the majestic Great Western Tiers mountain range, creating a stunning backdrop to the scenery. Arriving into Launceston for the afternoon to explore, here we will enter the Tamar Valley, a region renowned for its wine production and stunning scenery with some cozy character filled accommodation for the evening.

Day 2 Thursday: Little Swanport (160kms)

Today, we will be exploring the east coast, making stops at coastal villages and scenic spots like Coles Bay. Coles Bay acts as the entrance to Freycinet National Park, known for its breathtaking scenery, including the famous Wineglass Bay. The road to Coles Bay winds through the park, offering views of granite peaks, sandy beaches, and clear waters.

Upon reaching our boutique accommodation for the night, we will stay in a historic farm and salt works property dating back to 1830. This charming location is steeped in history and has transformed into one of Tasmania’s top wineries. Take a stroll to the private beaches or relax in the charming garden of the cottages. Enjoy a wine tasting and tour, then unwind by the fire with a glass of pinot noir in the convict-built cottages before settling in for the night.

Day 3 Friday: Hobart

Today’s adventure takes us on a short ride to Hobart, making pit stops in charming historic towns and savoring the bounty of the sea. First up, Triabunna – once a bustling port for whaling and logging, now a seafood paradise.

Next on the map is the picturesque town of Richmond, boasting stunning Georgian buildings and the iconic Richmond Bridge, Australia’s oldest stone bridge. It’s like stepping back in time to Tasmania’s colonial era.

And finally, our journey lands us in Hobart, the vibrant capital city of Tasmania. Get ready to soak in the culture and stay for two nights in this buzzing hub of creativity and charm!

Day 4 Saturday: Hobart (Rest Day)

Time for a rest Day in the capital city of Hobart on Tasmania’s south coast. We have allowed 2 nights in Hobart to explore this wonderfull city delights with an optional short day ride up to Mt Wellington for those interested (recomended).

We recommend exploring the renowned Salamanca Market, visiting the Mona Gallery, and immersing yourself in the local art, music, and food culture of this incredible city.

Day 5 Sunday: Ride to Strahan 290kms

Today marks our most extensive day of riding yet, with plenty of time to pause and appreciate the beauty of this region. Our journey begins in Hobart and takes us westward through the picturesque Midlands region. Along the route, we will explore Australia’s deepest natural freshwater lake, Lake St Clair National Park.

The day culminates in Strahan, a charming coastal town on the shores of Macquarie Harbour. Strahan is renowned for its breathtaking natural scenery, including the Gordon River. As a historic fishing port, Strahan offers delectable seafood on its restaurant menus – some of the finest in Tasmania. Indulge in locally farmed Tasmanian Atlantic salmon and ocean trout, thriving in the pristine, cold waters of Macquarie Harbour.

Day 6 Monday: Strahan to Corina  (90kms)

We’ll leave Strahan and journey down the hairpin road to Queenstown. We’ll then make our way to the old mining town of Zeehan via a little explored outback route with old ferry crossings.

We’ll then make our way to our rustic, miner styled cottages in Corinna. Corina is a remote wilderness settlement nestled on the banks of the Pieman River. Here you can immerse yourself fully in the timeless beauty of an ancient and scenic rainforest just steps away from your accommodation.

Day 7 Tuesday: Corina to Stanley (150kms)

Today we’ll journey northward as we find ourselves immersed in the vast wilderness of the Tarkine, one of the largest tracts of temperate rainforest in Australia. The road winds its way through dense forests, past pristine rivers and waterfalls.

Our lunch stop awaits in the quaint town of Arthur River, positioned at the Arthur River’s mouth, famously known as the “Edge of the World.” Moving closer to Stanley, the scenery transforms from dense woodlands to expansive farmland, featuring rolling hills and pastures where grazing livestock punctuate the landscape.

Day 8 Wednesday: Stanley to Devenport

Today, we return to the Spirit of Tasmania port to leisurely make our way back to Devenport. Leaving Stanley, we will travel along the scenic coastal road that winds through the northwest coast of Tasmania, providing breathtaking vistas of Bass Strait.

During our journey, we will visit Rocky Cape National Park, explore the port city of Burnie, and finally reach Devenport to board the Spirit of Tasmania for our voyage back to mainland Victoria and back to Nevermind Headquarters for a final farewell dinner and party and drinks (included) (extra night not included but can be arranged at the nearby Breamlea Beach Caravan Park and cabins – a local stunning secret spot)

Nevermind Adventure Tour Leaders are all experienced campaigners who live for the road. They just do not make them like this anymore. A bit rough on the exterior but strong, charismatic and always hilarious - they know their tours better than the back of their hands.

Tasmania has become well known for diverse and high-quality food. Some of the local delicacies include fresh seafood like salmon, oysters, and abalone, as well as pasture-raised beef, lamb, and pork. The region is also famous for its artisanal cheeses, berries, apples, leatherwood honey, black truffles, and premium fresh fruit and vegetables. Additionally, the local wine, craft beer and whiskey are highly regarded. The food scene is characterized by a strong tradition of small-scale production and a focus on quality organic local ingredients.
